“This is your Boarding Pass To…”
Traveling is a lot of fun, there’s no doubt about that. For me, however, I always try to find ways to make my travels a little more meaningful. Whether it’s talking to locals, capturing culture and documenting traditions, every person and place has a captivating story waiting to be told.
Puerto Rico.
In 2018, ten months after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, I somehow found myself on a journey to visit the island for two weeks. While there my adventures took me to Luquillo, El Yunque Rainforest, La Isla de Vieques, Rincon, Cabo Rojo, La Parguera, and lastly San Juan. This isn’t your typical travel vlog. This is my story, an immersive experience of excitement, hope, and admiration for the people and the island. If for some reason you never get to go, this is your Boarding Pass to Puerto Rico.
Japan.
Traveling to Japan has always been on my bucket list. I’ve always been fascinated by what I’ve read about the culture, the people, and the country. In 2017, I finally made that journey - Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Koyasan, and Tokyo. This isn’t your typical travel vlog. This is an immersive experience through my adventure, my thoughts, my questions, my confusion… It became very clear to me that Japan is a place you’ll have to go to more than once. So until you get to visit it yourself, this is your Boarding Pass to Japan.
Ghana.
In 2006, I made a trip back to Ghana (West Africa) with some of my peers from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania (USA). Then, only in my second year, I began to experience a sense of identity crisis that I felt I could only begin to communicate using a method of visual storytelling.
In retrospect, I applaud my younger self for some of the mature insights made, but also acknowledge the sense of innocent naivety that comes with such youth.
